RID Nigeria Hosts Christian Youth Leaders Stakeholder Breakfast Meeting to Mark International Youth Day

In 1999, the United Nations General Assembly declared August 12 as International Youth Day, a global moment to recognize and celebrate the energy, creativity, and contributions of young people. Every year since, the day has been a rallying point for youth-focused dialogue, innovation, and action across the world. This year, RID Nigeria, as a faith-based, youth-focused organization, joined the chorus of celebrations by convening a Christian Youth Leaders Stakeholder Breakfast Meeting, gathering some of the most dynamic voices shaping faith-driven leadership in Abuja.

The purpose of the engagement was clear: to listen deeply before acting boldly. As RID Nigeria develops its forthcoming projects and strategic interventions, the organization sought to see through the lens of Christian youth leaders themselves.

Too often, civil society efforts falter, not for lack of good intentions, but because they are designed in isolation, far removed from the realities of the people they aim to serve. RID Nigeria’s approach flips that script, ensuring that programs for Christian youths are not only visionary but grounded in the lived experiences, aspirations, and challenges of the community.

What unfolded in the room was nothing short of inspiring. Around the table sat a diverse and vibrant mix of leaders; from political party youth wings to church youth arms, campus fellowships, Christian media networks, and influential podcasting voices. These were idea-generators, bridge-builders, and catalysts for change. Discussions ranged from practical strategies to increase Christian youth participation in politics and governance, to innovative ways to amplify the role of faith in nation-building. The insights were vital, setting the stage for programs that could shift the trajectory of Christian youth engagement in Nigeria.

For RID Nigeria, moments like this reaffirm a deep conviction: with young believers of such vision, courage, and commitment, Nigeria’s future is bright. In their words, passion, and resolve, one could glimpse the blueprint of a nation that not only rises but thrives, driven by a generation unafraid to lead with faith and conviction.
